The Valentini was inspired by the idea that Valentine’s drinks should feel indulgent—but never rushed. Built on strawberries and cream, it leans into nostalgia while adding a modern martini elegance. Real strawberry jam deepens the flavor, heavy cream softens the edges, and vodka keeps everything balanced and smooth.
The Valentini is what I make when I want a cocktail that feels soft, familiar, and a little indulgent without turning into a full dessert. It’s inspired by strawberries and cream, but the flavor is more balanced than that phrase might suggest.
Creamy, yes — but not heavy. Sweet, but not overdone. It’s simple, comforting, and fits perfectly into a Valentine’s Day moment while still being easy to enjoy any time of year.
Step 1: Combine all ingredients into a shaker topped with ice. Shake until chilled.
Baileys Strawberries & Cream is doing most of the flavor work here. It brings sweetness, strawberry notes, and creaminess all in one ingredient, which keeps the build simple.
Vodka gives the cocktail structure. Vanilla vodka adds a little warmth and rounds things out nicely, but plain vodka works just as well if that’s what you have.
Either way, it keeps the drink from leaning too sweet.
Strawberry jam is what makes this drink feel real. It adds fruit depth and body, but it needs a confident shake to fully break down and blend.
This isn’t a gentle shake situation — give it the full 12–15 seconds.
Heavy cream is added sparingly, just enough to smooth the texture and bring everything together without making the drink feel heavy.
Shaking this cocktail well is important. The jam needs time to dissolve, and the cream needs to fully integrate. A strong shake with ice does both at once.
Step 2: Double strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Double straining after shaking keeps the texture smooth and removes any remaining fruit bits, which is especially important for a clean martini-style serve.
Step 3: Garnish with a chocolate covered strawberry.
The Valentini works beautifully as a Valentine’s Day cocktail, but I also love it as an after-dinner drink when you want something sweet without going full dessert. It’s calm, familiar, and easy to enjoy — the kind of cocktail that doesn’t need explaining once it’s in the glass.
