Tropical Heat Spicy Papaya Margarita

Diamonds

One thing’s for sure, I absolutely love a spicy margarita and the Tropical Heat is a variation that has become a new favorite in my household. The Tropical Heat spicy papaya margarita is for those who enjoy fruity, tropical flavors but can also handle a bit of heat!

I felt like every spicy margarita flavor had been done time after time. I’d had mango, pineapple, and grapefruit (all tasty) but I had yet to try a papaya-flavored spicy margarita. So, as the Queen Bee of mixology, I knew there was an opportunity for a great recipe in the making, and I ran to my local supermarket and picked up some fresh papayas to try it out. To say it turned out delicious is an understatement.

But seriously, don’t take my word for it. You have got to taste the Tropical Heat yourselves!

I really wanted to make sure the overall papaya flavor was present within this recipe, so I opted for fresh papaya rather than a puree or syrup. By muddling out the fresh scoops of papaya, it releases the fruit’s natural flavors from the juice and flesh of the papaya itself. The trick in making a well-balanced spicy margarita is muddling jalapeños together with the fruit to make sure the sweet and spicy notes blend together evenly.

Speaking of spice, we can’t forget about the importance rimming any type of margarita. This is such a simple yet crucial step for a yummy finish with each sip. A traditional margarita would call for salt and lime, but this is definitely not your everyday margarita!

With that being said, a Chamoy and Tajin rim is the way to go for tying the spicy ingredients together. Chamoy has a generally sour yet slightly spiced taste, while the Tajin provides a salty, tangy kick that I absolutely love.

My mouth is watering just thinking about this tasty Tropical Heat, so let’s mix it up!
