Just when you thought simple syrup couldn’t be fun, introducing my most-loved variation on simple syrup: Toasted Marshmallow Simple Syrup. It’s still simple, and takes less than 10 minutes to make.
This marshmallow simple syrup can be used in pretty much any cocktail your heart desires. Recently I mixed up a Scotch old-fashioned called the Glampfire Old Fashioned using this syrup, and it added a beautiful depth and unique flavor that I didn’t get using regular simple syrup. I’ve also used this syrup in a variety of other drinks using light and dark liquor, as well as mocktails! This is a great way to add some seasonal flavor to cinnamon (or chocolate) flavored drinks.
I’m not usually a huge fan of super-sweet drinks or using simple syrup when it isn’t needed; however, since making this marshmallow syrup I’ve been adding it to nearly all of my cocktails. Decadent, and delicious, this syrup stores well for about a month in the fridge, and this recipe creates just about a small mason jar full. I promise, you’ll be able to finish the whole mason jar before the month ends. Yes, it’s that good.
Here’s are a few simple steps you need to follow to make this indulgent simple syrup:
Step 1: In a small saucepan set over medium heat add all ingredients.
Step 2: Bring to a boil. Then simmer for 5 minutes or until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 3: Pour the cooled syrup into glass bottles or jars with tight-fitting lids.
Note: This Toasted Marshmallow Simple Syrup will keep in the fridge for up to 1 month.
Enjoy!
The bottled syrup will keep in the fridge for up to 1 month.
