The Pink Lady

Recently I’ve been busy at home developing gorgeous and delicious recipes for you to enjoy to celebrate Valentine’s Day! It’s just around the corner, and you all know how much I love whipping up some cocktails for every occasion, but especially holidays. What can I say? I love a good themed drink.

The Pink Lady is not only a classic cocktail recipe, but one that looks pretty in pink! You get to enjoy a timeless sipper while also embracing that Valentine’s day theme. Win/win!

Most cocktails involve one spirit as their base; however, The Pink Lady is made up of two! Shaking together both gin and apple brandy makes this quite the boozy cocktail. Don’t worry though, there are other ingredients that come into the mix to help blend everything together.

For this recipe, I decided to go for London Dry Gin specifically. London Dry Gin is a specific style of gin that is distinguished by its overall flavor profile. Generally, London Dry Gins are characterized by a clean, crisp flavor profile with a strong juniper note. They are often considered more straightforward and juniper-forward compared to other gin styles that might emphasize different botanicals or have a more floral or sweet character. When combining this spirit with a bit of apple brandy, you achieve a slightly sweet yet crisp base for your cocktail.

The addition of lemon juice allows the mixture to tone down on the harshness of the spirits, and rounds out the drink with some refreshing, zesty notes. And just a bit of grenadine not only sweetens up The Pink Lady, but its tanginess pairs beautifully with the lemon juice. Oh, and I can’t forget that it’s the reason this drink has such a pretty bubblegum hue to it. Grenadine tends to be really potent in both color and flavor, so a little truly goes a long way here!

Lastly, we’re finishing this cocktail off with egg whites. This allows the cocktail mixture to thicken up a bit, and sets in a frothy top to your drink.

Step 1: Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker without ice. Give it a drink shake until the mixture is foamy (about 30 seconds).

Step 2: Add in some ice and shake again to chill.

Step 3: Strain the cocktail mixture into a coupe glass.

The Pink Lady is similar to your everyday sour cocktail, but with a lovely edge to it. It’s sweet, refreshing, and has a bit of tartness to it, making it a well-rounded and oh-so-satisfying libation. Add this to your list for your Valentine’s Day festivities ahead, or keep it in mind when you simply want a drink to sip on in your down time.

You can’t lose with The Pink Lady!
