The Heart’s Delight truly speaks for itself. Not only is this a tasty treat, but it’s visually gorgeous. You may have noticed I’ve been filling my website up with Valentine’s Day themed cocktails and trust me, there are definitely more to come. But I do have to admit, The Heart’s Delight cocktail is one of my favorites so far. I mean, look how fun and cute it looks! I love everything from that cotton candy pink hue to the sprinkled rim.
Let’s walk through exactly what it takes to mix this sipper up.
Before getting started with the mixture, I wanted to give you a quick run down on how to achieve that pretty pink sprinkle rim. It looks super impressive when you serve it up, yet the rim takes minutes to assemble. I just took powdered sugar and mixed it in with some water until you achieve a paste-like mixture, not too runny and just thick enough to hold. Dip the rim of your glass over the sugar paste, and then dip the glass into some sprinkles of your choosing. A pro tip is to stick the glass in the freezer for a few minutes while you make the cocktail itself. That way the rim has time to harder up and hold.
Anywho, let’s dive into the cocktail mixture which really is the center of all this. The Heart’s Delight is a creamy, sweet, flavorful cocktail and needs a base spirit that further enhances its flavors. So, I went with one of my all time favorite spirits to mix up when developing dessert inspired cocktail, vanilla vodka. Sure, you could go with traditional vodka but those notes of vanilla really make this libation pop. Vanilla vodka has a prominent vanilla flavor that is both sweet and creamy, making it a perfect match for The Heart’s Delight.
Here is where the velvety texture of this recipe comes into play. Not only are we adding in some white chocolate liqueur, but a splash of Disaronno Velvet Liqueur as well. These two liqueurs mix really well together as they both have rich and creamy flavors while also being super versatile for dessert cocktails like this one!
Lastly, we’re dropping in just a dash of grenadine that won’t only act as a sweetener, but will also give the mixture that lovely baby pink hue.
Step 1: Pour all ingredients into a shaker topped with ice. Shake until chilled.
Step 2: Strain into a chilled glass.
Rich, creamy, and indulgent are the words that come to mind when describing The Heart’s Delight. It’s a cocktail that is as pretty as it is tasty; you can’t ask for anything else in my opinion. A cocktail to be enjoyed while kicking off your Valentine’s Day events or if you’re looking for a dessert cocktail to impress your guests year round.
The Heart’s Delight will do the trick every time!
Tip: Create a festive rim by dipping your glass in a sugar paste and Valentine’s Day themed sprinkles.
