The classic gin and tonic has been a go-to cocktail of mine for ages! Nothing beats the botanical, herbaceous notes of gin blended in with the crispness of tonic water, tying together the flavors so effortlessly. That was the exact inspiration for the Strawberry Delight, a gin and tonic, but with (of course) my own take on the recipe.
The Strawberry Delight will satisfy your cravings for a cocktail that is crisp, refreshing and a bit fruity.
The Strawberry Delight is just that: a gin cocktail with the sweetness of strawberries mixed within a variety of its ingredients. I love making sweeteners like simple syrup from scratch and in this case, the Strawberry Simple Syrup is what gives this drink a pretty, bright pink color.
I went with SipSmith’s Strawberry Smash Gin for this recipe. It’s distilled with strawberries and hint of mint. So, I decided to take the existing flavors within the gin and elevate them with the ingredients mixed in this recipe.
Swapping the traditional tonic water with club soda gives the cocktail an extra bubbly finish, and I love how it came out!
Step 1: Slap mint, then place into a shaker.
Step 2: Add gin, strawberry simple syrup, and lime juice. Top with ice. Shake until chilled.
Step 3: Place lime and strawberry slices in rocks glass. Add ice.
Step 4: Strain mixture into the glass, and top with club soda.
Step 5: Garnish with mint.
