Strawberry Daiquiri

Diamonds

Who doesn’t love a delicious rum cocktail? This popular spirit is not only excellent on its own, but is perfect for pairing with a wide range of cocktail ingredients. And today, we’re mixing up a rum classic—the daiquiri! My take on this traditional libation is cool, refreshing, and has a depth of tropical flavors you’re not going to want to miss. In fact, this might just be one of my favorite drinks. So, grab your blender, because we’re going to chop, blend, and sip our way to a truly great daiquiri!

The frozen daiquiri is said to have been invented in the 1930s by Constantino Ribalaigua Vert, a bartender at the historic bar El Floridita in Havana. Although the bar was frequented by travelers from around the world, one of El Floridita’s most famous regulars was none other than Ernest Hemingway. A fan of a stiff double, Hemingway actually spurred the creation of a daiquiri variation titled the Papa Doble, which he first enjoyed at El Floridita. Other variations of the daiquiri came along as the drink gained in popularity and name recognition. Eventually, bartenders began adding fresh and frozen fruit to their blends, leading to the deliciously sweet recipes we know and love today.

As for my recipe, white rum and lime—the two traditional daiquiri ingredients—remain unchanged. However, as the name suggests, we’re adding a kick of strawberry to the mix! The trick? To make sure the final cocktail has a strong strawberry flavor, vibrant red color, and frozen composition, we’ll add a cup of frozen strawberries to the blender.Add a little simple syrup to sweeten things up, blend, and enjoy!

This very-berry daiquiri is a sweet, frozen treat that is reminiscent of time spent on warm, Caribbean beaches. In fact, it will transport you to the sand and sun before you even have a chance to say “yum.” I know you’re going to love it.
