Nothing beats a little spin on a classic, and nothing screams classic like a good old martini cocktail! The Smoky Martini is a recipe for those who appreciate a cocktail that’s spirit-forward and a bit on the strong side. This is a concoction that is sure to please when it’s time to wind down after a long day. I love the simplicity of this recipe. I mean, what could be more convenient than a 3 ingredient cocktail?
This Smoky Martini takes the original gin martini to a new level, but it swaps the vermouth with a touch of scotch whiskey. This martini recipe dates back to World War II, when the UK had no access to vermouth, so naturally the recipe had to be altered a bit. While this may be a unique mix of flavors for some, it allows you to enjoy the botanical notes of gin infused with the smokiness of scotch whiskey all in one glass. Of course, I had to go with the classic lemon twirl garnish and it really made the drink pop!
Step 1: Add all ingredients into a beaker and top with ice.
Step 2: Stir until the ingredients are evenly combined and strain into a chilled martini glass.
Step 3: Twist a lemon peel and garnish.
I love classic cocktails and the Smoky Martini is certainly no exception. It’s a bold mixture of flavors with a smoky finish, what more could you ask for? I’d say it’s time to get mixing.
