Have you ever wanted a cocktail that perfectly represents the duality of your soul? Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but I recently mixed up this newest concoction I call the Saints & Sinners Sipper, and it’s genuinely like a taste of both heaven and hell in one sip, making it a cocktail for every mood. Personally, I recommend giving this one a try at your next Halloween gathering, given its delightfully mischievous flavor profile, but it’s suitable year-round.
Let me break it down for you!
This is one of those cocktails where you simply pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker, shake with some ice, and serve. While some of my more intricate cocktail recipes definitely stand out, there’s nothing like shaking up a quick and easy drink.
So, let’s talk about its key ingredient: Mango Chile Rum. It’s this fantastic blend of sweet, ripe mangoes with a kick of fiery chile. The Mango offers this sun-kissed sweetness while the chile heats things up. It’s like yin and yang; they balance each other out perfectly (and that’s just the beginning). I wanted to keep this a rum based cocktail so I grabbed one of my favorite mixers: Rum Chata. For those not in the know, Rum Chata is this creamy, dreamy, cinnamon-infused liqueur. It brings in a velvety texture and a hint of spice, but not too much. It’s subtle and smooth, making it the ‘saintly’ aspect of this cocktail. I told you this cocktail is the best of both worlds!
Now, here’s where things get even more luxurious. We’re adding coconut cream to the mix. It gives this cocktail an indulgent, rich, and creamy body. I found that it complements the tropical notes from the Mango Chile Rum beautifully. When you mix these ingredients together you get a creamy white mixture and let me tell you, it’s a real head turner!
A finishing touch? The sprinkle of coconut flakes. Not only does it add a lovely visual appeal, but it also gives a slight crunch and added coconut flavor. Lastly, pop a Chile pepper on top. It’s a visual and taste reminder of that ‘sinful’ kick lurking in your drink.
Step 1: Add all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake until chilled.
Step 2: Strain into an old fashioned glass with ice.
Step 3: Add coconut flakes and garnish with a chili pepper.
In essence, the Saints & Sinners Sipper is a drink of contrasts, and that’s what makes it so memorable. It’s sweet but spicy, smooth yet fiery, comforting while exhilarating. A drink that keeps you guessing and coming back for more. If you’re ever in the mood for a cocktail that’s as complex and intriguing as you are, give this one a shot.
