Did you know you needed a grown-up version of cherry vanilla cola in your life? I didn’t either, but I am so glad I have it now! Meet the Ruby Sipper! There isn’t actually any cola involved, but with all the flavors swirling around, it’s reminiscent of that. The pairing of bourbon, sweet vermouth, and bitters with muddled cherry makes this cocktail serve as another great option for easing people into bolder spirits. With the same base as a classic Manhattan, this might just be the variation to progress you towards those stronger flavors!
Before the cocktail purists come for me, this is not a Manhattan recipe. While they share a similar foundation of bourbon, sweet vermouth, & bitters, there’s no denying that the muddled cherry, cherry syrup, and vanilla take this far beyond your classic Manhattan. Yet, there’s no doubt that this Ruby Sipper takes inspiration! The sweetness from the cherry syrup adds just the right amount of oomph to up level this take on the original recipe. A great middle ground for those who are fans of the traditional Manhattan cocktail and those who are just starting to love it.
Step 1: Add Luxardo cherry and syrup to a rocks glass and lightly muddle.
Step 2: Pour in the remaining ingredients, add an ice ball, and stir.
Why use an ice sphere? There are a few reasons behind using a round ice ball as opposed to normal ice in your cocktails.
Step 3: Garnish with a lemon swirl.
Now, for those who are lovers of the classic Manhattan I raise you, try this Ruby Sipper! When you aren’t feeling like your usual drink, put a twist on it in and spice up that which you already enjoy. You never know the Ruby Sipper just might inspire you to stray from tradition and find a new love. For those die-hard cherry cola lovers, if you’re looking for your signature cocktail, this is the one for you! Maybe a little bolder than your typical cola, but still just as delicious. No matter what your palette prefers, stir up a Ruby Sipper and tell me what you think? Either way, you won’t be disappointed you tried it!
