Rose Gin Sour

Foamy, floral, and refreshing are the words I’d pick to describe this Rose Gin Sour. Gin sours are one of my favorite cocktails to shake up due to their wonderful versatility. You’re able to add so many different ingredients to make each gin sour a unique sipping experience. I personally love how this particular recipe turned out and I’m excited to share it with you!

This Rose Gin Sour is an elegant libation to say the least. It has your typical sour cocktail ingredients but with a few welcome twists, the first being the type of gin I went with: a jasmine & rose flavored gin. As many of you may know, gin typically has floral notes already, but the additions of jasmine and rose truly enhance the overall flavor profile of the drink.

Sticking to the floral theme of this cocktail, I added in some rose cordial syrup. With its sweet essence, it adds the delicate and aromatic characteristics of rose petals to your drink. The reason rose cordial syrup works exceptionally well in gin-based cocktails comes down to the complementary nature of the flavors, especially when we’re already working with gin that has rose infused into it. (It’s also good to mention that the use of rose cordial syrup in this Rose Gin Sour introduces a visually appealing element, adding a subtle pink hue that makes the drink visually enticing.)

It wouldn’t be a sour cocktail without some citrus juice, and I went with a classic take, lemon juice. This helps balance out some of those intense floral notes we’ve added and give the cocktail a refreshing edge. It’s also important to sweeten things up a bit, so I went with another cocktail classic: simple syrup. Nothing too fancy, we just want to make sure we have a bit of sweetness accompanying the other bold ingredients in the mix.

Finally, this is a sour cocktail that has a frothy finish which I love! The addition of egg whites in cocktails is great because they offer a beautiful cloud-like finish with each sip. It also helps thicken up the texture as a whole, creating a well-rounded cocktail.
