Introducing the Princess & the Peaflower: a beautifully layered gin cocktail that’s fit for royalty. Its regal layers of color and tantalizing flavors are sure to please both your eyes and your tastebuds, and I’m going to share the recipe for making it at home! (And you might notice I’m using Empress Gin in this cocktail recipe – so you could say, from start to finish, it’s a regal as can be! Appropriate, coming from a Queen Bee, don’t you think?)
Empress Gin provides a smooth base for this dreamy cocktail, while Triple Sec adds in a touch of sweetness. The cream of coconut and fresh grapefruit juice are balanced out by lemon juice and orange bitters. Finally, the float of butterfly pea flower tea gives this cocktail its stunning hue, as well as a slight floral flavor. To garnish, add a small handful of shredded coconut – I promise it won’t be lost in all that pretty purple!
The butterfly pea flower is a beautiful blue flower that blossoms in warm climates. When brewed as a tea, it has a delicate floral flavor with a hint of citrus. And it’s this wonderful flavor profile that inspired me to create the Princess & the Peaflower cocktail.
Step 1: Add all ingredients, except butterfly pea flower tea and shredded coconut, to cocktail shaker.
Step 2: Top with ice and shake until chilled.
Step 3: Pour into a cocktail glass over fresh ice.
Instructions for tea:
Step 4: Top with float of butterfly pea flower tea and sprinkle of shredded coconut.
Pro Tip: Flip your bar spoon over and used the rounded side to help easily float the tea over the top of your cocktail.
Whether you’re looking to impress your guests with a dreamy cocktail or simply treat yourself like royalty, the Princess & the Peaflower is sure to do the trick. I know you’re going to love it!
