Look out: innuendo fully intended! While Queen Bee Mixology will always be a PG place to find great cocktails, the Kinky Beverages brand is too fun. I just had to incorporate it into the name of this drink! Plus, in addition to lending itself to a play on words, Kinky Beverages’ full line of fruit fusion liqueurs and their classic vodka are absolutely delicious additions to any cocktail recipe. I am a particularly big fan of their Blue, which I recently used to create a festively hued holiday cocktail that is sure to make spirits bright at any holiday gathering!
Much like the rest of my recipes, the Let’s Get Kinky cocktail is more than meets the eye. This libation is a delicious mix of Blue’s wild berry and mango tasting notes which I’ve delicately paired with lemon juice and a subtly sweet Prosecco. The result? A show-stopping cocktail that is wintery in color, but tastes a little tropical–like a nice respite from the cold and snow. In my opinion, the combination makes for a drink that you can enjoy all year round!
Have you ever wondered how I get my lemon garnish to twirl like that? Well you’re in luck, because I don’t keep secrets! I recommend slicing a lemon wheel and then carefully using a small knife to cut the lemon skin from the fruit. This should leave you with a round piece of skin that you can then spiral around something small and round. No need for special tools here–I typically use a pen! From there, wrap your lemon skin (stilled twirled around your object) in a paper towel and place in a plastic bag with the unused lemon fruit. Let sit for at least 30 minutes. Unravel the lemon and voila! You’ve got the perfect lemon garnish for this vodka and Prosecco cocktail.
