Gin Old Fashioned

Diamonds

It’s time for another variation of one of my favorite classic cocktails, the Old Fashioned. In this case, we are going to be swapping in gin, completely changing the tasting notes from the original recipe. Gin is one of my go-to spirits to sip on and enjoy within a refreshing cocktail. After creating this recipe and trying it for myself, I knew I’d found something special, not simply due to its delicious flavor, but because you can make it within minutes.

Just like the original Old Fashioned, this Gin Old Fashioned recipe consists of three simple ingredients. So, let’s get this cocktail going!

To say this is a simple cocktail recipe is an understatement. All you’ll need is some gin, bitters, and a sweetener of your choice. Some prefer to add in simple syrup, but I love how sugar cubes smooth out the mixture.

For this Old Fashioned, gin is the game changer here. Gin is a versatile and flavorful spirit that can add a lot of complexity and depth to cocktails. The predominant flavor in gin is usually that of juniper berries, which are one of the main botanicals used in its production. Since gin is not only the base spirit of this recipe, but also the main ingredient, it dictates majority of the flavor notes within the Gin Old Fashioned. This particular mixture has a piney, resinous taste that I personally love.

This is a cocktail recipe made for all my fellow gin lovers out there in the world of mixology! The Gin Old Fashioned has a complex and balanced flavor profile, with the botanical and herbal notes of the gin complemented by the sweetness and bitterness of the remaining ingredients.

Be sure to mix this recipe up next time you’re craving something refreshing, yet easy to make!
