Garden Gin

The Garden Gin is a vibrant cocktail with a refreshing finish! If you’re a big fan of gin like I am, you’re going to love the flavors that come together in this recipe. Not only is this a delicious cocktail to wind down with, but it’s also one of those recipes that can be made directly in the glass. There’s no need for fancy tools or mixology kits—just your ingredients and the glass of your choice.

To start, I recommend using a taller cocktail glass (such as a highball or Collins glass) rather than a rocks glass to allow all the ingredients to combine evenly. This ensures that the taste of your Garden Gin will be rounded and balanced. Also, since this drink is served over ice, using a larger glass will provide ample room for fresh ice, ensuring a chilled mixture.

If the name didn’t already hint at it, the base spirit of this recipe is gin. Known for its botanical and herbal notes, gin perfectly complements a Garden Gin cocktail. To balance the intensity of the gin, I’m adding grapefruit juice, one of my favorite mixers with gin because of their complementary flavors. The interaction between the bitter elements of grapefruit and the botanical notes of gin creates a refreshing balance of flavors, giving the cocktail a gorgeous blush-pink hue that is simply captivating!

Next, we add ginger beer, a classic cocktail ingredient found in many favorite recipes. Ginger beer introduces a bubbly sensation after each sip along with a hint of traditional spices typical of ginger, creating a drink that is both warming and cooling, thanks to this blend of ingredients.

Once these three ingredients are poured over fresh ice, you’ll want to give the mixture a gentle stir to combine and chill it. Finally, top it all off with some tonic water for extra bubbles and a dash of sweetness!

Step 1: Fill a glass with ice and pour in the gin, ginger beer, and grapefruit juice.

Step 2: Top the mixture off with tonic water and garnish.

The ingredients in Garden Gin are truly a match made in heaven! They complement each other perfectly and elevate every flavor in the recipe. I love cocktails like this one—with minimal ingredients that can be mixed up within minutes. Plus, you can find all these ingredients at your local market, which is always appreciated.

Save this recipe for the weekend and try it for yourself!
