Frozen Piña Colada

Who doesn’t love a tropical getaway in a glass? This frozen piña colada transports you to an island paradise with each sip. Here in Seattle, we cherish each sunny day as they don’t come as often as we’d like, so I love mixing up drinks that remind me of summer and the sun!

The frozen aspect of the piña colada is what truly sets it apart from other tropical cocktails. The blended ice gives the drink a slushy texture that is incredibly refreshing, especially on a hot day. It also makes the piña colada a fun and playful drink that can be enjoyed on its own or alongside a meal.

There’s something undeniably refreshing about sipping on a frozen piña colada. This tropical cocktail has a unique flavor that perfectly blends sweet pineapple, creamy coconut, and rum for a deliciously satisfying drink. Let’s dive into what makes a frozen piña colada so special.

One of the key ingredients in a piña colada is pineapple juice. Pineapple juice is naturally sweet and slightly tangy, giving the drink its signature flavor. When blended with ice, the pineapple juice becomes the base of the frozen cocktail, providing a bold and fruity taste. Now, to truly mix up the classic taste of a piña colada, coconut is essential as it ties the whole drink together. Most recipes call for cream of coconut, but I decided to add coconut milk as well, for more flavor.

And of course, for a boozy kick we’re adding in rum! A good quality white rum is preferred for this cocktail as it pairs well with the sweet flavors of the pineapple and coconut. The rum also adds a warm, slightly spicy note to the already delicious cocktail.

I could really go on and on about this recipe but I’d say we’re ready to get to blending!

Step 1: Pour all ingredients into a blender topped with ice.

Step 2: Blend until the mixture is evenly mixed and smooth.

Step 3: Pour into a highball glass then garnish with dried pineapple slice.

This Frozen Piña Colada is a tasty, flavorful cocktail that evenly combines sweet pineapple with creamy coconut. It’s the ideal drink to cool down on a hot summer day or to sip on while lounging around. Its unique flavor and slushy texture make it a drink that’s pretty hard to resist!
