The French Jewel is just that, a beautiful gem in a glass! Such a simple yet delicious cocktail that it’s hard to believe it’s made up of only 3 ingredients. There are so many elements to love about this cocktail, it’s smooth, refreshing, and has a touch of sweetness. Not to mention that gorgeous golden hue, a true head turner.
The French Jewel is a recipe that’s shaken up in a cocktail shaker with ice and served. I always strive to develop recipes for you to enjoy at home without any sort of hassle. But let’s dive into what makes this libation so tasty.
This is a vodka-based cocktail and luckily most people have a bottle of this timeless spirit sitting around their home bar. Nothing too fancy about it but vodka is always a great spirit to mix in cocktails due to its crisp, clean finish. I typically opt for Tito’s vodka but as always recommend choosing your preferred brand of spirits.
We’ll be shaking up some pineapple juice along side with the vodka. Pineapple juice is another classic mixer used in a variety of different recipes and there’s a reason for that. Pineapple juice offers a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness, which can enhance and complement a wide range of spirits. Vodka is known for its neutral flavor, which makes it an ideal canvas for the bold and vibrant taste of pineapple juice. This combination creates a balanced and refreshing drink, with the pineapple juice adding character without overpowering the vodka.
To sweeten things up I chose the addition of Chambord. Chambord is a luxury liqueur made from raspberries, blackberries, Madagascar vanilla, Moroccan citrus peel, honey, and cognac. It has a sweet, syrupy character but is balanced by a slight tartness from the berries and citrus. This is a highly versatile liqueur, well-regarded for its ability to mix well in cocktails, making this an easy choice.
Step 1: Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker topped with ice. Shake until chilled.
Step 2: Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice and garnish with a lemon peel twist.
The French Jewel is a recipe you’ve got to try out this weekend to fully appreciate what it has to offer with each sip. It’s sweet with a subtle hint of tartness, and of course a nice boozy kick! Definitely worth saving around the next time you’re looking to entertain or simply kick back after a long day.
