Does anyone else have a hard time letting go of summer? This sunny time of year is by far my favorite season, and as a native Pactific Northwesterner, I always find the start to fall to be bittersweet. On one hand, I am excited to curl up next to my fireplace where I can spend long, relaxing evenings at home. But on the other, I know that my beloved summer sun is slowly but surely being replaced by colder temperatures, darker days, and (you guessed it) heavy rains. This year, our annual transition from warm to cool got me thinking: why not send summer off right by making a delicious cocktail?
With both pineapple and banana, the Forever Summer has, in my opinion, all the best summer flavors! Pairing these fruit favorites with white rum and green chartreuse makes for the perfect blend of light tropical flavors, along with more complex herbal notes. Never tried chartreuse? This French liqueur comes in two popular variations: one green and the other yellow. Green chartreuse is known for its signature tasting notes of mint, sage, apple, and vanilla. These flavors, alongside pineapple and banana, make for the perfect end-of-summer mash up! Seriously, this is one cocktail recipe you’re definitely going to want to bookmark.
The Forever Summer cocktail has the ability to capture all of my favorite things about the sunny season, but in a glass! Just one sip has the ability to transport me straight back to the warmth of long summer days and the many patio happy hours I enjoy during my favorite time of year. So here you have it, mix up a Forever Summer cocktail and raise your glass to fresh fruit, short sleeves, and care-free time spent outdoors. We’ll see them again next year!
