Espresso Martini

Diamonds

I can’t wait to share a classic brunch cocktail that includes an iconic duo: booze and caffeine. The espresso martini has been around for years, and I’ve caught myself ordering these delicious concoctions more and more these days, so I figured it’s the perfect time to whip up my own recipe based on this caffeinated classic.

The espresso martini is a smooth yet bold mixture thanks to the distinct flavors of freshly brewed espresso. As you continue to sip, the notes blend together to create a balanced and delicious taste that is both strong and refreshing.

I love researching well-known recipes when coming up with my own and I came across a few interesting facts surrounding the inception of espresso martinis. This treat actually dates back to the 80s and was referred to as the vodka espresso, since a true martini was known to have gin along with sweet vermouth. But over time, many drinks within the mixology realm began to adopt the term martini.

This take on the espresso martini truly enhances the existing rich flavors of the original recipe by adding some extra touches to the mix. In particular, I went with an espresso vodka rather than a plain spirit to provide a well-rounded coffee taste. You instantly taste the bold flavor of espresso, which is quickly followed by the smoothness of vodka.

When combined with the café liqueur, the result is a dream for coffee and vodka lovers alike!

My main goal behind this recipe was to stick to its original ingredients while also taking the cocktail to a new level. I mixed this up on a relaxing Sunday and completely fell in love. No need to leave the comfort of your home to enjoy a nice brunch cocktail.

So, mix up the Espresso Martini. Trust me, you’re in for a treat!
