I’m a gal who appreciates a nice, hot cup of tea. If I had to pick, I’m a sucker for a batch of Earl Grey black tea. And naturally, that was the exact inspiration behind this Earl Grey Martini cocktail recipe presented to you today!
The Earl Grey Martini is a hybrid between a traditional vodka martini and a sour cocktail with (of course) a few unique flavor notes added to the mix. This libation is a citrusy, foamy recipe that is sure to leave a strong first impression, so I’d say it’s time to whip one up!
I think it’s safe to say that Earl Grey has some pretty bold flavor notes, so I wanted to make sure that they didn’t over power the cocktail as a whole. So, rather than incorporating brewed Earl Grey, I went with a few dashes of Earl Grey bitters. The distinct bergamot, citrus taste is present, but it blends well with the remaining ingredients.
The lemon juice was a must since, in my opinion, this is very much a citrus-based cocktail all the way up to the garnish. I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: it is so crucial to make sure flavor profiles not only complement each other but mix well. This is one of the key pieces of advice I’d give to beginners in the mixology world.
With that being said, adding in some orange blossom water with some simple syrup offers a smooth, sweetened cocktail mixture with a touch of floral notes. I’ve been using orange blossom water a lot lately in not only cocktails, but some of my desserts as well! It’s such a versatile product that goes beyond food & drink, so I definitely recommend checking it out in my Amazon Storefront.
So what do you say? Let’s get this Earl Grey Martini a shot!
Step 1: Add all of the ingredients into a shaker without ice and dry-shake vigorously until mixture is foamy (about 30 seconds).
Step 2: Add ice and shake again until well-chilled.
Step 3: Strain into a martini glass and garnish with lemon zest & twirl.
There you have it! A light, fluffy, refreshing martini that is sure to be a new go-to drink of yours. Martinis are a classic concoction but as you’ve all noticed by now, I love taking my own approach towards classics and adding my Queen Bee touch to the recipes.
So, next time you’re in the mood for delicious cocktail, I’d recommend this heavenly Earl Grey Martini!
