Have you ever tried a tequila sour? If not, it’s time to try the Desert Tequila Sour. I’ve created numerous variations of sour cocktails, but tequila sours are truly unique versions of this classic recipe. Knowing there are many tequila fans out there, I wanted to whip something up for you all to enjoy!

Beginning with the base spirits for this recipe, I’ve chosen to include both reposado tequila and mezcal. The combination of reposado tequila and mezcal can craft a captivating and intricate flavor profile, suited for those who savor nuanced and layered drinks. With the inclusion of reposado tequila and mezcal, this cocktail gains bold and smoky notes, setting it apart from other well-known sour cocktails.

Incorporating tequila and mezcal into a cocktail naturally leads to the addition of citrus as the next essential ingredient. For this mix, I’ve selected both lime and grapefruit juice. While lime and tequila are a renowned pair, grapefruit juice also complements tequila wonderfully. The citrus components of the recipe smooth out the spirits’ boldness, adding a zesty edge to the drink.

To add a touch of sweetness, agave syrup is introduced, a classic companion for tequila-based cocktails.

Lastly, I’m keen on giving my sour cocktails a frothy texture, which is achieved through the use of egg whites. Egg whites create a silky, cloud-like topping on the cocktails, resulting in a stunning finish.

Step 1: Pour all ingredients into a shaker (NO ice) and shake vigorously until mixture is foamy.

Step 2: Add ice and shake again until chilled.
