Just when you thought I couldn’t whip up any more gin and tonic cocktail recipes, I’m bringing you another delicious variation! This Cranberry Gin and Tonic elevates the original recipe to an entirely new level. It’s a cocktail that will get you taste buds dancing with joy, especially for all you cranberry lovers! Cranberries are a small, tart fruit that are packed with flavor. When combined with the botanicals of gin and the bitterness of tonic water, they create a complex and satisfying flavor profile.
I originally created this recipe around the holidays since that time of year is full of festivities. I love entertaining guests at home and there’s no better way to do so than serving up some mouth watering cocktails. In my opinion, cranberries are a staple during the holidays but I’ve found myself mixing up this Cranberry Gin and Tonic well after the holiday season, simply because it’s just that good!
The first thing you’ll notice when taking a sip of the Cranberry Gin and Tonic is the tartness of the cranberry. It hits your tongue right away and wakes up your taste buds. But don’t worry, the bitterness of the tonic water comes in quickly to balance it out, creating a perfect harmony of flavors. For my take on this cocktail, I went with a citrus flavored tonic as well as the addition of an orange liqueur. When testing out different variations of this recipe, I found the citrus notes blend perfectly with tartness from the cranberry juice, further amplifying the overall taste.
You’ll also start to pick up on the botanicals of the gin. Depending on the brand of gin you use, you may taste hints of juniper, coriander, or citrus. I’m a huge fan of gin, so I love creating cocktails with gin as the base spirit, and you’ve got so many options to select from.
Step 1: Build drink in glass. To start, add gin, orange liqueur, grapefruit and cranberry juices in glass. Add ice.
Step 2: Add orange slice to glass. Top with tonic water.
The Cranberry Gin and Tonic is a delicious and refreshing drink that is a great choice for any occasion. It’s not too sweet, not too bitter, and has just the right amount of complexity to keep you interested. So, the next time you’re in the mood for a gin-based cocktail, give this one a try!
