Cold Brew Fizz

Coffee and booze are a beloved duo in the mixology world. I’ve done my fair share of espresso martini recipes, but now I’ve got something new and unique! The Cold Brew Fizz is as jolty as it is refreshing, and a take on espresso-based cocktails that I have yet to see. It’s probably one of the easiest cocktails you’ll ever make, but it will look like an absolute pro assembled it.

Let’s get into things!

The Cold Brew Fizz is a layered cocktail that is made up of 3 simple ingredients, but the results are sure to impress you from your first sip. This drink is built right in the glass, meaning no fancy mixology tools are needed, so it’s perfect for at-home bartending! I suggest choosing a highball glass. It’s ideal for displaying the stunning layered appearance and accommodating plenty of ice, which slows the melting process. This helps maintain the flavors of all the ingredients for a longer duration.

After filling your glass with a healthy portion of ice, you’re going to want to start with the tonic water. This way you will be able to achieve the ombré visual. If you save the tonic water for last, it’ll simply mix in with the darker liquids and create a coke-like hue. The tonic water is what makes this cocktail a fizz with its refreshing bubbles and subtle notes of sweetness.

After the tonic water goes in, pour in some of that Amaretto. Amaretto is a popular Italian liqueur, known for its sweet almond flavors. This is the reason this liqueur works so well with coffee cocktails, accentuating the espresso’s rich and bitter notes.

Speaking of espresso, it wouldn’t be a Cold Brew Fizz without some cold brew coffee. While you can make your own at home, I picked up a can from my local market, making things a bit easier for me when creating this drink. As always, I encourage you to pick out your favorite cold brew whether that be the brand or roast type. Each cocktail should suit your unique preferences and I’m making no exceptions here!

Step 1: Fill a highball glass with ice.

Step 2: Pour in the tonic water first, then the remaining ingredients on top.

Step 3: Garnish with a fresh orange peel.

The Cold Brew Fizz is one of my favorite coffee inspired cocktails I’ve made thus far. Often the first thought when you hear coffee and liquor is of espresso martinis, but I’d say we’ve seen enough of those by now! It’s a cocktail that’s so easy to assemble it’d be crazy not to try yourselves.

Mix this one up for your next brunch gathering!
