Do you have a favorite rum cocktail? This richly versatile spirit works fantastically in so many recipes, I don’t know if I could ever choose! And because I love it so much, it’s no surprise to me that tiki bars—and their ever-popular fruit-focused rum drinks—have been a celebrated part of cocktail culture for nearly 100 years. From the classic taste of a Piña Colada to the tropical flavors in a Zombie, there are just so many libations to love! And today’s cocktail, the Coconut Dream, is an ode to the longstanding tiki tradition of mixing delicious rum with sweet fruit juices.
The Coconut Dream quickly became a Queen Bee favorite, not only because I love it, but so do all of you! When I first posted this recipe to my Instagram page, I was delighted to watch it quickly become one of my most popular recipes. I got to watch as members of our little cocktail community recreated the Coconut Dream, enjoying this rum-forward, subtly sweet, and indulgently creamy cocktail in their comfort of their own homes. Plus, the drink’s beautiful light pink color was highlighted in every photo I received!
Step 1: Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
I used Bacardi White Rum, DeKuyper Triple Sec, Cream of Coconut from Reàl Ingredients, and Angostura Orange Bitters.
Step 2: Add ice and shake until chilled.
Step 3: Double strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with your favorite flower.
Tip: Double straining your cocktails ensures that any ingredients that you don’t want in the final drink aren’t included.
Now some of you may be wondering–why did I decide to name this cocktail the Coconut Dream? Well, after my first sip, I knew I’d be fantasizing about it for many happy hours to come. I mean, who could resist?! And trust me when I say, that is exactly what has happened. This twist on a tiki cocktail classic is now a staple in my home bar. I just love sharing how to make this drink with anyone who stops by for happy hour. So, what are you waiting for? Shake one up for yourself and let me know what you think!
