Allow me to introduce you to the captivating and utterly delightful Capriccio Sangria. This concoction is a harmonious blend of fresh berries, wine, vodka, and a dash of sweetness, topped off with a sparkling twist. Sangrias are some of my favorite drinks to mix up and are well-known within the mixology world. One of the secrets behind sangria’s popularity is its refreshingly versatile nature. It’s a drink that can be tailored to suit various preferences and occasions. You can experiment with different types of wines, from red to white, and even rosé, depending on your mood and the season.
So, grab your glass and let’s dive into the world of taste that awaits.
I began by muddling a mix of fresh berried directly in a mixing beaker. Feel free to choose whichever berry mix you prefer, however I opted for a variety of blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. I felt like this blend of berries perfectly complimented the notes that come from red wine. By muddling these berries together it allowed the mixture to embody their fresh sweet yet slightly tart flavors.
To further tie these flavors together I thought cherry vodka was the perfect choice! Cherry vodka is a flavorful and vibrant spirit that captures the essence of ripe, succulent cherries that goes great with this recipe. After all, this is a cocktail recipe that revolves around berries of all sorts, so this was a no brainer. Speaking of berries, they match effortlessly with a nice red wine. Again, feel free to mix in your favorite red wine, but I went for a semi-sweet. That way this component of the cocktail doesn’t overpower the existing flavors.
To sweeten up this Capriccio Sangria I added in a cocktail classic: simple syrup. This is my go-to sweetener when I feel there are already plenty of flavors at work. Keep it simple!
After the ingredients are mixed together with ice and strained into a fresh glass, I top it all off with some soda water to give the mixture a crisp finish.
Step 1: Add fresh berries into a beaker and muddle.
Step 2: Add wine, vodka, simple syrup and ice, then stir.
Step 3: Add ice into glass and strain mixture into glass.
Step 4: Top with soda water.
Garnish with mixed berries.
In essence, a good sangria is more than just the sum of its parts, and the Capriccio Sangria is certainly more than just the sum of its parts. It’s the embodiment of conviviality, a burst of flavors, a visual delight, and a testament to the art of mixology. It’s the perfect companion for celebrations, gatherings, or even a quiet evening of relaxation.
Cheers to the beauty of balance, the allure of berries, and the simple pleasure of sipping something truly enchanting!
