Cantaloupe & Olive Oil Margarita

Diamonds

The Cantaloupe & Olive Oil Margarita isn’t your standard margarita remix! It’s fresh, savory, and balanced with a silky finish that makes every sip feel just a little elevated. Combining juicy cantaloupe, blanco tequila, lime, and agave with a gentle drizzle of olive oil on top, this cocktail finds the sweet spot between refreshing and refined.

It’s exactly the kind of spring cocktail that surprises people in the best way.

I’m a huge fan of cantaloupe, and while snacking on a few fresh pieces I thought it would be the perfect fruit to incorporate in a tasty cocktail. After some research and inspiration-hunting, I settled on this new (and delicious) version of the classic margarita recipe.

This version of the margarita leans into lighter, fruit-forward flavors that are perfect for spring. Cantaloupe juice brings natural sweetness and a soft melon flavor that pairs beautifully with crisp blanco tequila.

A touch of olive oil on top gives the drink a unique texture and savory edge, while the basil and cantaloupe garnish makes the whole serve feel garden-inspired and seasonal.

It’s an easy shake-and-serve cocktail that feels like something you’d sip at a stylish rooftop bar—but it’s made with ingredients you can keep stocked at home.

Step 1: Combine all ingredients except for the olive oil in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until chilled.

The heart of this cocktail is fresh cantaloupe juice. Its gentle sweetness and soft floral notes give the drink a mellow, fruity core—plus that beautiful blush-orange hue. Using fresh-pressed juice is key here to keep the flavor clean and natural.

Blanco tequila steps in with its crisp, peppery bite, providing a sharp contrast to the cantaloupe’s softness. It grounds the drink with that classic margarita energy while letting the fruit take center stage.

Cointreau adds a bright, citrusy pop. Its orange essence lifts the entire flavor profile, balancing sweetness with a subtle, sophisticated bitterness.

A squeeze of fresh lime juice brings in the acidity needed to sharpen the edges. It brightens the cantaloupe and ties the tequila and orange liqueur together with that unmistakable margarita zing.

Finally, agave syrup rounds everything out

Step 2: Strain the mixture into a coupe glass.

Step 3: Drizzle a small amount of olive oil atop the mixture.

A light drizzle of high-quality olive oil adds a smooth, savory finish that makes the cocktail feel luxurious without being heavy.

It floats gently across the surface, giving the drink a beautiful sheen and a subtle aromatic lift with each sip.

Step 4: Garnish with a skewer of fresh cantaloupe balls and fresh basil leaves.

A skewer of melon balls and fresh basil leaves adds a soft touch of color and fragrance.

The basil works well with both the olive oil and lime, while the cantaloupe balls echo the flavor of the juice and enhance presentation.

The Cantaloupe & Olive Oil Margarita is proof that a few small tweaks can transform a classic into something totally new. It’s approachable, refreshing, and feels thoughtfully crafted—even though it’s incredibly easy to build.

If you’re ready to try something a little unexpected but totally drinkable, this margarita variation is worth a spot in your spring rotation.
