There’s only one way to enjoy the remaining days of autumn before the chilly winter days start to kick in, and that’s with a delicious bourbon cocktail in hand. Today I’ll be sharing with you a cocktail that embodies the vibes of fall with no more than 3 simple ingredients that you likely already have in your pantry. This Autumn Afternoon cocktail is my favorite for just that reason; it’s easy to mix up, and even easier to enjoy!
If you’re a fan of bold, spirit-forward cocktails, this is the recipe for you. It includes bourbon, lemon juice, and maple syrup. This combination of ingredients work together to create the perfectly balanced mix of strong, sweet, and sour.
Why I chose to mix up this recipe? Well, actually I first tried this recipe at my family-friend’s gathering a few years back- and I was in love to say the least. She called it a Maple Bourbon Sour and used bitters in addition to the ingredients I’ve listed here in this recipe. I found that this cocktail tastes just as amazing with or without the bitters so I’ve decided to keep this recipe minimalistic. However, if you’re looking to add an extra touch of flavor and dimension, add a few dashes of your favorite bitters (I suggest either orange or aromatic bitters from Angostura -however, anything you have on hand will work just fine). There’s so many delicious variations on this cocktail so feel free to experiment and find out what you like best!
This bourbon mixed drink would be best enjoyed in company of your loved ones, or while curled up on the couch soaking in the rest of the brisk fall days. Happy hour seriously couldn’t get any happier with this cocktail, so let’s get to mixing!
Step 1: Combine all ingredients into a shaker.
Step 2: Top with ice and shake until chilled.
Step 3: Pour mixture into lowball glass with ice sphere.
Garnish with a few cinnamon sticks and enjoy!
Easy, right? If you’re looking for a little pep-in-your-step or if you’re hosting an evening event and in need of a crowd-pleaser, reach for one of these Autumn Afternoon mixed drinks.
Another great thing about this cocktail is that it can be upsized or doubled effortlessly. I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely bringing a pitcher of this spirit-forward libation to my next gathering.
Cheers!
