Sharing Mixology Skills with Seattle
If there’s one thing Kelly Sparks loves, it’s a good cocktail. From sipping a perfectly chilled martini on a busy rooftop bar, to mixing up a great drink in her own backyard—Kelly’s libation appreciation runs deep. And when she launched Queen Bee Mixology in 2017, her goal was to share the joy of making great drinks with everyone.
While she has passionately followed cocktail culture for years and greatly admires the skills of master mixologists, Kelly set out to do something a little different. She wanted her audience to know that anybody can mix up and enjoy a delicious cocktail—no matter how small their home, or how tight their budget.
One way that she has accomplished that very goal is through her standing weekly special on local ABC affiliate, KOMO TV’s Seattle Refined program. As a whole, the show tells a range of stories about all that makes the Pacific Northwest an amazing region to live, work and travel to. And every Thursday, you can catch Kelly serving up a tasty drink on the Cocktail of the Week segment! Here, she provides step-by-step instructions for how viewers can make their next favorite cocktail right from the comfort of their own homes.
When we asked Kelly what her best piece of advice for any home bartender is, she told us “Don’t be intimidated! The world is full of incredible bartenders with impressive skills—I admire them all. But the truth is, making a great drink doesn’t have to be anything fancy. The whole point is to try, taste, and explore!”
So, if you’re someone who has an interest in delving into the wonderful world of at-home bartending, we suggest following along with Kelly and her passion project—Queen Bee Mixology. Be sure to tune in each Thursday for new episodes and check her out on Instagram at @QueenBeeMixology.
